Copadichromis sp."mloto goldcrest" is mainly found above the sandbottoms along beaches and sometimes also in the intermediate zones from rocks to sand. They are mainly living there in open water on depths to about 20 meters. They can only be found on some spread places namely in the neighbourhood of Nkanda and Makonde, both in the northeastern part of the lake, and also near Chilumba and Chitimba Bay in the northwestern part of the lake. These examples were found in the neighbourhood of Nkanda however unfortunately this male was not yet colored when I took this picture. In the lake the males of these species can grow to 14 cm, in the aquarium however they can grow taller because of a good feeding, females grow to about 10 cm. Copadichromis sp."mloto goldcrest" is mainly living in open water where it`s feeding itself with plankton. You can best keep this species with multiple females in a large tank with a lot of swimming space. In the aquarium they are comfortable with any food. They take everything they get offered, like spirulina pellets, mysis, artemia, cyclops and shrimp-peas mix. |
